SPC Heads Meeting - March 2024
The William Henry Smith School and Sixth Form also acts as the Chair School for the Calderdale Specialist Provision Cluster (SPC) . The SPC has a proven history of effectively addressing the needs of students in mainstream settings through various methods, including targeted specialist training and support initiatives.
Our termly offerings are crafted following thorough assessments of school needs, incorporating feedback from clusters, collaborative efforts with the LA school improvement service, and insights gained from successful surgeries. Additionally, we evaluate the effectiveness of the guidance and assistance provided.
This comprehensive offering aims to aid SEND leaders and teachers in maintaining high-quality provision for students with complex needs. It is tailored to provide pertinent training, personalized support, and professional supervision, ensuring that provision for SEND students is suitable, accessible, and impactful.
As a non-profit cluster of special schools, we aim to offer free or low-cost training, development, and support. This initiative is intended to assist all mainstream schools in ensuring that SEND students achieve optimal outcomes through a carefully crafted, sequential curriculum.
The current SPC offer can be found here.
